Job Description

About the Role: 

Our Irrigation Technician supports the day-to-day irrigation and general farm operations on our Biodynamic Farm in Biggs Flat, SA. This is an entry-level, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors and is keen to build their skills in irrigation and sustainable farming. You will assist with maintaining irrigation systems, monitoring water use and supporting the broader farm to ensure healthy crops and soil. This is a full-time position based onsite.

Your skills and experience:

  • Practical, hands-on mindset with mechanical aptitude, good troubleshooting skills and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Self-motivated, reliable and able to work independently while communicating effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the farm team to meet crop-specific water needs and support general farm tasks.
  • Commitment to ecological stewardship and holistic farming practices.
  • Interest in irrigation systems, soil health, water cycles and sustainable farming practices.
  • Interested in learning about biodynamic principles and how they apply to water management.
  • Basic knowledge of plant biology and growth cycles.
  • Willingness to learn how to monitor and maintain whole-farm irrigation systems, including seasonal checks.
  • Basic understanding of water use tracking, soil moisture and system performance.
  • Knowledge of water-saving technologies and soil-moisture monitoring tools.
  • Good attention to detail for record-keeping and farm planning requirements.
  • Basic plumbing, electrical or pump-maintenance skills.
